Do you have treasured pictures from many years ago where you wish you could make them look great again? Do you have some old pictures of family members who you wish you could repair and enhance? With today's digital technology it is now possible to recover the original appearance of old family pictures through the magic of digital scanning and editing.

It starts with making a very high resolution quality scan. Then importing that into Photoshop it is possible to repair and fill in areas where some detail has been lost. Moreover if there are scratches or specks of white these also can be retouched out. Then the entire image can be adjusted overall in terms of brightness and contrast, perhaps lightening or darkening specific areas for better balance. And the final thing will be to add some sharpening for increased crispness and richness.

Several of the "before and after" examples you see on this page  are from old 19th and early 20th century glass plate negatives. They can give you both an idea of what can be done and also what Stan can accomplish.

This all takes time and a lot of skill with Photoshop. Stan has been using Photoshop for more than 20 years on a consistent basis so he has a high degree of skill and knowledge to bring to this task, as well as a lot of patience.

Pricing will vary according to extent of damage to the original print and the amount of time it will take to make image improvements. However in general the cost for each job will fall into 1 of 3 basic categories. Prices are per image.

1. $25. MINOR retouching of stains, dust, scratches, cracks, creases, and tear cleaning and overall correction and tonal balancing.

2. $50. MODERATE retouching of  stains, dust, scratches, cracks, creases, tears, including repair of missing parts and image damage and including some color correction.

3. $60/hour. EXTREME retouching including not only correction of stains, dust, scratches, cracks, creases, and tears but also including replacing big pieces of the image. An estimate will be provided of work to be done before starting a job.

Each restoration job will start with a basic scan of the original image print provided. At the completion of the project the client will receive an 8x10 paper print of every completed image and digital copies of the image file.
